About the BandTamie Jensen was raised on the shores of Island Lake in Becker County and was taught as a child to sing in Norwegian. Her musical talents led her into a career as a piano and guitar teacher, songwriter, and singer with a special passion for Celtic tunes. Tamie records and produces the music for a weekly radio show with her church and has played keyboard and led worship bands for many years. She also is a much requested musician/soloist for weddings and funerals, and plays solo music at many small or large group events. Elijah Jensen, (Tamie’s son) is a student at Oak Hills Christian College, Bemidji, majoring in Bible and music. He enjoys dance as well as playing harp, autoharp, accordion and bodhran drum. Elijah has been singing in churches and at celebrations with his family since he was a toddler, and has spent several years playing conga drums and providing vocals for a youth worship band. He also plays harp for weddings and other special events. Larry Kimball’s musical training began at age 11, with piano lessons and singing in the youth choir in South Dakota. In High School he joined the percussion section of the marching band performing at local parades, pageants, and concerts and played bongos at then-popular Catholic youth masses. Out of High School Larry traded his upright piano for a guitar out of practical necessity. He now lives in Walker Minnesota and joined Northwind Crossing in 2004. Eighteen year-old Jake Giese, is the youngest and newest member of Northwind Crossing. He is the son of Ted and Kay Geise of Akeley Minnesota. Jake, who is home-schooled was told by his father his education would include his learning to play the musical instrument of his choice. Jake picked up the fiddle for the first time less than two years ago and, with the help of his instructors, has amazed everyone with is quick mastery of this difficult instrument and Celtic music. Willis Mattison has played guitar or bass with bands since he was sixteen beginning with a country and “old-time” music band in the Thief River Falls Minnesota area and continuing in a rock band through his college years in Bemidji. After a 25-year hiatus, he was drawn back into music and played with a country/folk group from Fargo-Moorhead in 1990 before joining NORTHWIND CROSSING in 1999
